Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy is out for a while.

The Vikings are in trouble. Their star rookie quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, has hurt his knee. He needs surgery to fix it.

McCarthy played really well in his first game. He threw the ball really good and scored two touchdowns. But something bad happened to his knee during the game.

The team doesn't know when McCarthy can play again. It could be a month, or he might miss the whole season. This is really bad news for the Vikings.
